January trip to FL

Ok, so all my posts are out of order.  One of many things I am working on organizing better, as well as time, home, school schedule, etc.  Bare with me, as I try to do one @ a time : )

In January I was able to get to FL to see my brand new niece Miss Mattilyn Deanna.  Here are some pics from my trip...

Left to right(Elizabeth(8), me holding Mattilyn, she was around 5-6 days old here, and Arianna 13)

Elizabeth's 8th Birthday was just days before I got there, so here she is opening presents from our family.

President's Day

Thanks to my friend Jo-Ann we found out that there would be a FREE celebration/entrance into Mount Vernon(President Washington's home).

http://www.mountvernon.org/  You can take a look to see more about it here...

We got there later than we wanted to, and of course they hadn't opened the parking on the grass in front yet, so we parked a milke up in a subdivision and walked.  The weather wasn't ideal(chilly, and drizzling on and off), but we stayed with thousands of other people for 2 hours.  Below are some of the highlights of our time there..

Daddy & kids before entering part of the museum

Gabriel wanted his picture taken by the statues

A replica of the Washington home

This was cool.  The house opened up so you could see the top level.

Part of President Washington's  Birthday Celebration

Smoke filled air after they shot off thier guns(they did this several times),  was not so good for our 3yo, as he cried even after we left this area for at least 20-30 minutes.

Man dressed as President Washington

Alisha by President Washington's home( we didn't make it inside as it was very crowded, and the line was loonnng)  At this point Daniel was in hysterics b/c of the gunshots as well.

Daniel (this is where they had the family tree, and it was very interesting.  I learned so much that day)

Nana's visit/Valentine's Day

February flew by, but we did get a visit from Nana, and had a very special Valentine's Day as well : )

Friday the 11th we were to leave to NY to celebrate my Great Aunt Anna's 90th Birthday.  We were all looking foward to this trip.  My extended family in NY has never met all 6 of our children, and we would have had extra time w/ Nana.  Unfortunatly I came down with a bad stomach bug two days before, and was still feeling week.  Daddy had some as well that Saturday.  Nana drove down this way with my Aunt and Uncle who live in VA, and stayed with us Sunday-Tuesday.  It was a short, but very nice visit.  Sunday she got here after Church, and we just hung out in the house.  Monday was Valentine's Day, and we went to Toys R Us to spend the money Nana had given them.  We ran some errands, Nana treated us to lunch out, then a special Valentine dinner as well in which Daddy joined us.  Tuesday was sad, as Nana left around 9-10am : (

Here are some pictures from Nana's visit/Valentine fun : )

This is the 1st year we have done this.  A friend on FB organized a Home School Valentine exchange that was all over the US, and actually 1 family was out of country, in S Africa.  This was so much fun, and over 50 families participated!  We made boxes in advance to keep them in, and mapped out where each came from.  Such a fun way to incorporate Geography as well.   A big thanks to my friend Marla for putting this all together! : )

Daniel w/ his map

Gabriel w/ one of his many Valentines

Alisha was such a help as always.  She read the names, then spelled out each family name so we could write them on our maps.  This took us a while helping the 2 little ones, but all enjoyed it so much.  Nana was here, so we had extra hands that day : )
